Life Balance and Stress
Work-Life Balance
"Choose a job you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life."
Now a well-worn phrase, 'work-life balance' conjures up very negative images. It places work out on a limb, as if it's not a part of your life. It seems to say that work is a necessary evil. Something that simply pays the bills and allows us to pay for the things we really want to do.
But it's not like that at all, is it? Before we retire, we will spend a third of our lives working, more if you have a long commute. We should also spend another third sleeping. Therefore, work is certainly a major part of our waking lives. These days, most people gain some degree of satisfaction from their work. The world of work offers achievement, friendship and recognition, especially when we're promoted or complete an important project successfully. We often arrive home bolstered by the fact that we've had a 'good day at the office'.
What we're saying is that a whole-life balance includes your work. It's an inherent part of who you are and what you do. You achieve many work-related Milestones, of which you are proud. And you deserve to be.
Can you honestly think of the last time you pampered yourself by leaving work early to do something specifically for yourself? Now, can you remember the last time you took off to do nothing, but sit and think about your life?
If you did take time out to sit and think, I wonder what you'd discover. Is there something out there that you really want to do, but you don't have the time?
We are here to help you create that time.
